The Alki Community Center offers a wide variety of programs and classes for all ages, including adults. Toddlers and preschoolers can attend arts classes and playclub (school year and summer). Kids can learn cartooning or pottery, take sports and music classes, or attend arts workshops. Teens have a full schedule that includes sports classes, arts, dance, performing arts, movie nights, and a chance to sit on the Teen Advisory Council.

Drop-in activities include ping-pong and pool all day, as well as a drop-in playtime for tots and their parents during the fall and winter. The Community Center also hosts periodic community events like picnics or sports days for youth. A children's playground and playfield are located adjacent to the center.

The center offers before- and after school care, summer camps, and school break camps. Parents' nights out are offered once a month.

The Community Center's art classes are held at the Bathhouse Art Studio, a beautiful venue located on Alki Beach.

Kids from preschool to high school can take tap, ballet, jazz, hip-hop, creative dance, ballroom, and swing dancing - as well as parent and tot classes - at this spacious, light-filled neighborhood studio, which has two dance floors.

Classes start up quarterly, and the year includes holiday and Valentine's Day parties and a Spring Performance at the Shorecrest Performing Arts Center in Shoreline. A full schedule is available by calling or online.

Summer dance camps, offered in weeklong sessions beginning at the end of June, meet Mon-Fri for 2 1/2 hours each day.

The studios are also available for birthday party and special event rental. If you rent space for a birthday party, the studio can provide an instructor to lead the kids in dances and art activities.

All That Dance also offer classes at its renovated satellite studio at 5500 35th Avenue NE (30 blocks to the south).

The studio on the corner of 80th and Greenwood in North Seattle offers movement and dance classes for children ages two months (with parent) to adult. It aims to provide instruction to beginners and experienced dancers alike, in a non-threatening, non-competitive environment.

Class offerings include pre-ballet, ballet, jazz, tap, hip-hop, Irish, Polynesian/Hula, Flamenco, parent/toddler, and Nurturing Baby.

Indoor Play for parents and children from infants to five years is offered during weekday operating hours at a fee of $2/day. It's closed during the summer.

Day Camps, for kindergartners through six graders, run during the summer and feature swimming, field trips, and theme days. The camps run all day, with pre- and post-camp care available. Camps also run during school breaks.

Ballet Bellevue offers ballet instruction to children in pre-ballet through Ballet V. Call or visit the website for current class schedules and costs.

The ballet company performs for audiences on the Eastside and features local talent as well as nationally and internationally recognized dancers, choreographers, and musicians.

Bitter Lake offers before- and afterschool care; pre-school, grade school, and teen programs; youth sports (basketball, football, nerf soccer, girls' volleyball, roller skating, and tennis lessons); day camps (general and sports), and family programs and events.

Pre-schoolers: The community center offers preschool, sports, movement, ballet and science workshops, tumbling, and music classes. The preschool program is offered for children ages two to five.

School-aged kids can take piano lessons, ballet, drama, tap, karate-butokukan, gymnastics, science, and cooking classes.

Teens can get homework help. Friday and Saturday night activities at the Annex, step classes, teen talk, design, cooking classes, volunteer opportunities, and special events (dances, basketball, snowboarding) are also offered. Teens can attend campouts and programs during the summer, as well.

The Bothell Sons of Norway hosts a variety of cultural events throughout the year.

The Youth Group meets once each month and offers opportunities for youth ages seven to 23 to learn basics of the Norwegian language, folk dances, songs, and arts and crafts related to Nordic culture. The group normally meets on the third Thursday of each month at 7:30pm; check our calendar or the Bothell Sons of Norway website for a current schedule. The group also performs dances at several events each year. Youth who are Sons of Norway members can earn Cultural Badges for participating.

The Bothell Sons of Norway hall can be rented for private events. Call for details.

Burien CC offers classes of all types and for all ages (karate, gymnastics, yoga, ballet, a variety of art classes, and school break activities for kids of all ages), teen activities, a skate park, and family-friendly programs and shows in the center's auditorium. This is Burien's only community center.

Centre at Norpoint features a climbing wall, classes in a variety of arts and sports, a gymnasium, and a state-of-the-art fitness center.

The water temperature at Centre at Norpoint Pool is maintained at 85 degrees and the pool features a beach walk-in, a mushroom waterfall, two hot spas, and a dry sauna. Swimming lessons and swim party packages are available.

Children's Dance Workshop offers dance classes for children ages three to ten in creative dance, ballet, and modern ballet.

The Comerford School offers Irish dance classes for all ages and experience levels.

The Community Center at Mercer View is open daily and offers beautiful views of Lake Washington and the Cascades. The two-story facility features meeting rooms, an arts and crafts area, an indoor art gallery, health, fitness, and dance rooms, a game room with foosball, board games, pool, and cable TV, free Wi-fi, and a children's play area.

Creative Dance Center offers a wide variety of dance and movement classes for all ages - including infant (ages two months to pre-walking), parent/toddler (walking to two-and-a-half), and parent/child (ages two-and-a-half to four) classes; creative dance and creative ballet (ages three-and-a-half to six); dance and art (ages three-and-a-half to six); dance, drama, and art (ages five to seven); creative modern (ages six to eight); modern (ages eight to 15); ballet (ages seven to 16); and intergenerational community dance (ages six to adult).

Crescendo Artistic Environment School is a non-profit organization that offers a preschool program and before and after school care. The program is influenced by Reggio Emilia, Perkins School of the Arts and Montessori School - USA, but places a stronger emphasis on music, dancing, drumming, and cultural diversity. Dance offerings include West African, Flamenco-Gypsy, American and Russian Ballet, and free movement. Vocal and instrumental music are available, along with music theory and musicology. Classes also include Atelier, Yoga and Qi, and Cultures and Languages.

Dance Fremont offers dance and movement classes during the school year and summer, from toddllers to adult. The studio also offers summer classes and camps, including a intensive two-week dance workshops for ages 12 and up, and a Musical Theatre/Costume Design & Production Camp for ages seven to 12.

Delridge offers dance classes, teen programs, preschool programs, before- and after-school programs, summer day camps, and computer literacy classes.

Parents with children ages five and under can drop by for Mini Gym time (school year only - see the website for a current schedule).

The Kiddie Academy is a morning preschool program for children ages three to five. It offers an individualized classroom experience based on Early Childhood Developmental practices and can help prepare young children for school. Children can attend the program two to five days per week and prices are very reasonable.

Young kids explore dance through movement, rhythm making, and song, and they develop body awareness, motor skills, and creativity in an age-appropriate environment.

Instructor Julie Cauthorn, MS, MSW, has 15 years of experience as a dance teacher and has worked as a dance therapist and social dance teacher. She has a gentle, encouraging way with kids and keeps the class moving, while also allowing plenty of age-appropriate exploration.

Classes are held at the Old Redmond Schoolhouse Community Center and other Eastside locations.

Edmonds Parks and Recreation offers a variety of recreation classes for children and adults. Children's programs include gymnastics, music, dance, babysitting, and etiquette classes. Summer day camp opportunities are also available.

Emerald Ballet Theatre is a non-profit ballet school that offers classes for children from preschool on up. The school also offers instruction in modern dance and creative movement for children with disabilities. Private classes are available for $50-$60 per hour.

Home of the City of Edmond's Parks and Recreation Department, the Frances Anderson Center is the site of events, community meetings, and classes, including fitness, arts, and sports programs. It is also home to Olympic Ballet School, Edmonds Montessori School, a pottery school, martial arts training, a day care, a youth club, and the Edmonds Arts Festival Museum.

Garfield is one of Seattle's best community centers, located next door to the Medgar Evers Pool. The center offers sports programs, dance and movement classes, music lessons, before- and after school programs, summer and school break camps

The center is well-known for its special teen programs, including a Teen Life Center where kids ages 14 to 17 can congregate for dances, barbecues, or just have a place to call their own where they can hang out with friends. Green Lake Community Center offers a variety of programs for all ages, including a play center for toddlers, pottery classes, sports (tennis, martial arts, volleyball, flag football, soccer, basketball), excellent drama classes held in conjunction with the Seattle Public Theatre, early childhood music classes, a teen program (including Friday Teen Night), and a changing array of classes.

Preschool classes are available for children ages three to five.

The center is attached to Evans Pool, which offers a variety of instructional, recreational, and exercise swim programs.

Hiawatha offers before- and afterschool care, music and movement for pre-schoolers, family music classes, sports programs for school-age kids, and day camps, among its many family-friendly programs. The Center also features a playfield, lighted running track, tennis courts, a large wading pool (open daily during the summer) and kids' playground, and a batting cage.

The International School of Classical Ballet provides training in Russian Ballet traditions, offering programs in classical ballet, pointe, variation, pas de deux, character, jazz, tap, and modern dance to students ages three to adult.

The International Ballet Theatre offers performances from October to June, including a traditional Nutcracker performed as it was in St. Petersburg in 1892. Visit the website for a performance schedule and ticket information.

Jefferson serves a wide range of ethnic groups, and boasts a staff who are fluent in Chinese, Korean, Portuguese, and Tagalog.

Programs include youth and adult sports leagues at area schools, arts and dance classes (including ballet and hip hop), karate classes, and a variety of health and fitness classes.

The center offers before- and afterschool programs at Beacon Hill and Kimball elementary schools, and summer day camp programs for young people ages five to 14. The toddler/preschool program, called Kiddie Kampus, is for kids ages three to five.

Johnson and Peters Tap Dance Studios offers tap dance classes for adults, although intermediate and advanced level teens are permitted to join adults classes and special workshops. Private and semi-private lessons are available by appointment for younger children or less experienced teens.

Created by young people as a place to hang out and have fun, the Kirkland Teen Union Building offers a technology lab, two stages for live music, a photography darkroom, youth-run cafe, professional recording studio, and more.

KTUB also offers classes on a quarterly basis, including audio recording, photography, breakdancing, yoga, and barista training.

Housed in what was formerly the Jewish Synagogue of Chevra Bikur Cholim, the building is listed in the National Registry as a historical landmark. Langston Hughes Performing Arts Center is a Seattle Parks and Recreation Facility.

In addition to performances, LHPAC offers classes in acting, art, dance, music, and writing for children, teens, and adults.

The signature event is the Laurelhurst Salmon Bake, an annual neighborhood tradition for over thirty years, held on the last Thursday in July.

Before- and afterschool care, toddler programs, ballet, gymnastics, music, t-ball, and summer sports camps are just some of the programs available for youth at the Loyal Heights Community Center. The summer camp programs offer theme programs for every day of the week.

Preschool and playgroup classes focus on building social, physical, and education skills prior to the school setting. Offerings include programs for two-, three-, and four-year-olds, and a playgroup class for kids and parents. A modified co-op program is available in some of the classes. The popular classes fill very quickly.

Friday Nights @ Loyal Heights feature workshops, game nights, dinner/movie nights, and special events.

The dance studio, located in a restored historic bathhouse on Lake Washington, is home to Spectrum Dance Theatre, now one of the largest dance schools in the area.

Spectrum offers a large variety of dance classes - movement for toddlers, ballet, creative dance, jazz, and hip hop - for all ages throughout the year. Scholarships are available for kids who need them.

Magnolia Community Center offers a variety of programs for all ages, including sports, art, cooking, and dance.

Family Movie Nights happen the first Friday of the month.

Preschool Programs for four- to six-year-olds) run Mon-Fri from 9am-11:30am and/or 12:30pm-3pm ($75-$200/week) Three-year-olds may attend on Fridays from 9am-11:30am ($75/week).

One of the prettiest Community Centers in town, Meadowbrook offers before- and afterschool camp, summer and school-break camps, organized sports, and art, music, and dance classes. Miller offers a wealth of family programs and kid classes, including sports, tumbling, arts, dance, and music. Before- and after school care and school break and summer camps are also available.

Mitey Mights Play Time (for little ones ages six months to five years), offers unstaffed parent-child play on Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 10am-12n, at a cost of $1/child/day (or purchase a $10 punch card for 10 visits).

Annual events at Miller include the Spring Egg Hunt, Winter Holiday Party, and Halloween Carnival.

Moonpaper Tent offers classes, camps, and workshops for children in visual and performing arts. Classes include a parent/child art and dress up classes, storytelling, ballet, fairy forest, secret tree house, and other topics with lots of kid appeal.

Moonpaper Tent is also home to Moonpaper Theatre, which stages several productions for children each year in its 50-seat theatre.

Party packages are available with a wide variety of themes including fairies, dragons, magical forest, rock stars and divas, birds, tea parties, theater and talent shows, animals, superheroes, wizards, cats/kittens, outer space, pirates, mermaids, and more. Parties can include a drama workshop, dress up, face painting, crafts, a treasure hunt, and other activities. Prices range from $225-$500 for up to ten children. Families can also rent a dress up trunk for $100, with free delivery in Seattle.
