- I just read through the reviews and was APPALLED by two reviews that had such negative things to say about this agency. Aside from the fact that not everyone can be pleased all the time, I find these reviews misleading. Our family situation is unique and I was pleased that the agency would present to nannies our unique qualities. Why would I want to have a prospect show up at my home for an interview, only to feel uncomfortable with our family? I found the agency to be great in guiding through the compensation decision, I wanted certain qualifications and they helped to define what I needed to pay. The background checks done when I hired the nanny were one more thing I truly appreciated. Who wants to rely on old records? I liked knowing that the nanny had so many people vouching for her through her references, and that the background check was one final piece that would have included most recent activity had there been any. The service this agency provides is as helpful and accommodating as they come. I know several colleagues who have used them for a long time and I felt very comfortable that they were always upfront and honest with me and the nannies on everything.

[Submitted by mom of 3, working professional 12/20/07 - As a nanny that has worked for the agency for some time, I was very concerned recently to learn that they do not run a state or federal child abuse clearance. I learned this when I needed to have the check run for volunteer work, and discovered there was no record of them having inquired. Also, I am sure I had not completed the paperwork previously. I started to think about how they had accepted my sister (knowingly) as a reference, had never called my other references, and told families that I was CPR and First Aid Certified until I reminded them this was not true. I've left the agency purely at the behest of my partner. If they don't run adequate checks on the nannies, there is no way they run checks on the families.

[Submitted by Axe Murderer or Nanny? 2/19/07 - If I could give the Philadelphia Nanny Network zero stars, that's what it would deserve. I interviewed three candidates. Two of the candidates revealed to me that the agency had "warned" them that we were ethnic and asked if they would still be interested. When we found the nanny that we liked, she accepted the position and we let our nanny go. The agency then squeezed her to ask us for more money (of course so that they would get a bigger commission) and put such a bad taste in her mouth that she called me apologetically saying that she couldn't take the job because she didn't want the agency to profit one dime off of her.
